The penultimate round’s outcomes have intensified the final fixtures. Table leaders Sialkot and Karachi Blues will face off at Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi. Faisalabad are scheduled to play eighth-placed Bahawalpur at Marghzar Cricket Ground, while Peshawar takes on Islamabad at Diamond Cricket Ground. All four top teams are chasing outright wins to qualify for the five-day final beginning 29 November at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
Peshawar’s dominant win was powered by captain Sajid Khan, who claimed 6-39 in 15.4 overs to bowl out Multan for just 92 in 39.4 overs—189 runs short of their 282-run target. This marked Sajid’s 22nd first-class five-wicket haul and his third of the tournament. He also completed his second consecutive 10-wicket match haul (5-82 and 5-60 vs Lahore Whites; 4-29 and 6-39 vs Multan), the sixth of his first-class career. Mohammad Irfan supported with 3-10 in seven overs.
Multan, who began the day at 2-1 in three overs needing 280 more with nine wickets in hand, collapsed after reaching 53-2. Only Test batter Imran Butt showed resistance, scoring 39 off 111 balls with four boundaries. Multan, now ninth on the table, will face bottom-ranked Abbottabad at Abbottabad Cricket Stadium in a bid to avoid relegation.
At Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, Lahore Whites chased down a 136-run target in 43.3 overs, resuming from an overnight score of 58-4. Player of the Match Hussain Talat, fresh off hitting the winning runs for Pakistan in the third ODI against Sri Lanka, remained unbeaten on 49 off 90 balls (three fours, one six), backing up his first-innings 58 off 79 balls (eight fours)—the only half-century in the match.
Talat shared a 50-run fifth-wicket stand with Tayyab Tahir (32 off 58 balls, three fours) and stitched an unbeaten 47-run partnership with Qasim Akram (17 not out off 37 balls, one four) to seal the win. Lahore Whites now sit sixth with two wins from eight matches and will face fifth-placed FATA at Imran Khan Cricket Stadium, Peshawar, in the final round.
